Do something completely out of the ordinary (at least for most of us) and take in the hot air balloon festival. By all means, make plans to visit Howelsen Hill on the south side of the Yampa River. Named for the “flying Norseman” Carl Howelsen, you will learn about this well-known Barnum and Bailey Circus star who introduced the town to ski jumping back in 1914.
